 Summer is Well On Its Way - Is Your Skin Ready?While it's true that laser procedures are not always suitable for summer, there are still plenty of in-office treatments to help make your skin radiate its good health. Chemical peels are often thought of an not safe for summer skin, but quite the opposite is true. Did you know that not all chemical peels peel? Think of peels on a sliding scale from walking to running and running to sprinting. While we may not suggest a full out sprint (aka aggressive downtime chemical peel) during the hot months of summer, walking and even running are a great idea. Since most people can't afford major downtime in the summer, we suggest a light lunch time peel to freshen up the skin and unclog pores without all the physical peeling. Lighter chemical peels have great anti-aging benefits, however their results are just not as long lived or effective as stronger concentrations. As long as your skin is prepped and protected with good SPF before and after a summer peel, our providers give them a thumbs up! For those of our patients who are looking for a chemical peel plus a bit more, microneedling can also safely be done all throughout the summer months as long as you are diligent with your SPF and minimize sun exposure immediately post procedure.
