 Welcome Kristine Waters, PA-C

Kristine Waters, PA-C graduated Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University where she received her Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies in Jacksonville, Florida. It was during her time in school that she discovered her interest and passion for the specialty and where she met her husband.

Her career began focused on general dermatology where she diagnosed, treated and educated patients on conditions such as skin cancer, eczema, psoriasis, acne and hair loss. After 5 years of practice, she expanded her skill set by beginning to perform skin cancer excisions, cyst removals, and even assisting in Mohs surgery.

Whether she’s educating patients on preventative practices, treating skin conditions or performing skin cancer removals Kristine enjoys developing individualized treatment plans for patients to help them feel their best in their skin.

After 12 years of serving her Florida community Kristine, her husband and their three children decided to move to North Carolina to be closer to family. Outside of the office she loves cooking, hiking, yoga and spending quality time with her family.

We treat sweat!

An estimated 300 million people worldwide suffer from excessive sweat or hyperhidrosis.  Excessive sweating can be a bothersome  condition for many  people causing anxiety at work, embarrassment in relationships and social settings and frustration over ruined clothes.

The miraDry system is the only FDA-cleared treatment that can dramatically reduce underarm sweat by addressing the root cause of excessive sweat and its accompanying odor – not the symptoms.  It is permanent, immediate, and non-surgically performed by Dr Catherine Hren at Cary Dermatology.

How Does it Work?

miraDry uses thermal energy that targets and eliminates both sweat and odor glands in your underarms.  Once the glands are eliminated they do not grow back.

It non-surgically targets the area under the skin’s surface where the sweat glands reside and safely destroys them while simultaneously cooling the skin surface for added comfort.

Local anesthesia is administered to the underarms prior to treatment to assist in increasing comfort.  There are no incisions required.  Treatment is customized to each underarm with the miraDry handpiece placed directly to the skin, lining up with the temporary treatment template applied to the underarm.

An appointment will generally last about 90 minutes.

Results

Results can be seen in as little as one treatment and the sweat glands to not come back after treatment.

Most however will need two treatments three months apart to get 80% decrease in sweat.

Downtime is minimal but most experience swelling, bruising and sensitivity of the underarms for a few days.  You will be asked to apply icepacks and to take ibuprofen for 1-2 days to decrease the side effects.
